Detecting Mental Health Early

Mental health issues are a huge part of the population and a major reason as to the need for counselors rising day by day. Erford states the term ‘trauma’ is derived from the Greek word for “wound” (2018). Wounds is a great way to describe what happens when mental health issues go unattended to.   It is evident in todays society that the lack of understanding and awareness to see the early signs of mental instability has become more prevalent with families feeling separated from their loved ones through avoidance and strange behaviors. To champion through the those avoidances my focus area is Mental Health and identifying ways to treat mental health. I realize that there is a vast array of ways to treat, but not many people are able to identify some of these signifiers to detect it especially in children, especally children who are autistic. Maxine Waters Is No Pushover!

                                                Congress woman Maxine Waters is no stranger to controversy, but recently she has been spotlighted for her outspoken views late last month exhorting citizens to protest against President Trumps "Zero Tolerance Policy" on immigration. Waters received a lot of flack for being accused of inciting violence against political opponents from both Republicans and also her on party. Someone Needs to Tell Antonio Sabato to Shut Up!

                                                                  Of all of my years watching contentious interviews, the exchange between CNN's Chris Cuomo and actor Antonio Sabota was by far my favorite and most riveting I have ever witnessed. To preface this, anyone coming on the Cuomo show should know that he is well versed at calling out inconsistencies and flat out lies. It seems that actor Antonio Sabato didn't realize that when he entered into "Lions Den" on last night after Chris pressed him on his stance on civility in the United States. This guy should stick to acting which really didn't seem to be working all that well for him and maybe the reason as to why he is running for Congress in California.                                                           President Trump reversed his Executive "No Tolerance" order on immigrants crossing the border on last week. The reversal comes on the heels over an outrage across the Country of people expressing their disapproval of the separation of children from their parents while crossing the border. President Trump touted the idea that this was the Democrats fault and that they needed to fix it, both He and his surrogates were on several news media outlets saying that Congress needed to do their job. Scared of Interracial DATING???

          Starting a conversation about race is not always the easiest thing to do. Recently, one of my friends told me that they had to deal with something that had been extremely challenging for them. Telling his mom that  he was in love with a white woman, he is black by the way.  To clarify, his mom is not racist and has never exhibited any of those behaviors. However, she has intimated that she might be a little disappointed if he did bring home a woman who was not black. It wasn’t what she said exactly, it was more of what she didn’t say. For the record, his mom is a woman of many words to contextualize this, her silence when jokingly asked about her son dating a white girl hypothetically was louder than her speaking. I remember ease dropping on a conversation between her and his dad and she jokingly said “he could even bring home a white girl” but then she said, “let me not say that too loud”.                    If you've ever gotten a rejection letter from a company you've applied to or interviewed with, then that means that you've tried to reconcile why you didn't get the job. Missing out on a great work opportunity can damage your confidence, but not getting the job is not always a direct result of your lack of qualifications or interview performance, it could very well be your social media contents.  In 2017, 70 percent of employers are screening candidates by looking at their social media profiles, according to a Career survey" over half of employers vet their applicants and potential hires by their social media content. THE GOVERNMENT HAS OFFICIALLY SHUT DOWN!!!

                                  I'd like to take this grand moment to give a big (S)hole standing ovation to our President and Congress! You once again have proven what your real agenda is and that you couldn't even come together, EVEN on a bi-partisan deal in support of the Nation! Looks like while President Trump wanted to be celebrating all of his accomplishments or lack there of on Friday evening, instead he commenced his Presidential anniversary with a major government shutdown.
